Abstract: The article presents a study which aims to evaluate an industrial process of energy storage which consists in the use of a cylindrical tank filled with encapsulated Phase Change Materials (PCM). It focuses on the delay of the crystallisation or the supercooling phenomenon of PCM. A two-dimensional (2D) porous-medium model for cold storage with coolant flowing was used in the analysis of the process.
