| Abstract: | The article explores mapping apps (applications) for use on smartphones. Particular focus is given to maps from technology companies including Apple and Google. Additional topics discussed include how many apps routinely fail to follow centuries-old mapmaking principles from cartographers, the notion of presentation consistency, and how smartphone mapping apps must take into account the small form factor of the medium. |
