| Abstract: | The amino acids, alanine, aspartic acid, glutamic acid, glutamine and serine, were labelled when 14CO2 was supplied to leaves of Tussilago farfara. Exogenously supplied [14C] glycine, serine, cysteine and methionine are rapidly metabolized by host tissue. An isotope dilution technique was used to investigate the movement of amino acids into the rust pustule. The results indicate that serine and alanine are absorbed more readily from the host than aspartic acid, glutamic acid or glutamine. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
