| Abstract (English): | The availability and quality of recreation spaces is a topic of work within the Territorial Planning projects, in tourist areas, in addition to the population, it is necessary to consider the tourists within the users of these sites. This article presents the project: Regulatory Plan of Chira Island, Gulf of Nicoya, Costa Rica and how the methodology was developed to incorporate the aspect of recreational areas as a line of research within the territorial ordering process. The study focuses on the design of recreational areas on islands with tourist potential, following the laws of Costa Rica. It is necessary to adapt the cases according to the law of each country. .The results show the importance of having the participation of the community as a basis for decision-making and also concluded the great relevance that has to design the proposals of sites for recreation thinking the inclusion of these sites as a complement to the tourist attractions Of an area, having to take into account the needs of the visitor in the designs that are made of the spaces destined to the recreation. | Abstract (Spanish): | La disponibilidad y calidad de espacios de recreación constituye un tema de importancia dentro de los proyectos de Ordenamiento Territorial. En espacios turísticos, además de la población, es necesario considerar a los turistas dentro de los usuarios de estos sitios. En ese sentido, este artículo presenta el proyecto Plan Regulador de isla Chira, Golfo de Nicoya, Costa Rica, y expone la metodología empleada para incorporar el aspecto relativo a las áreas recreativas como una línea de investigación dentro del proceso de ordenamiento territorial. Se debe considerar que el estudio se enfoca en las particularidades que requiere el diseño de espacios recreativos en islas que tienen potencial turístico y lo hace desde la perspectiva de la legislación costarricense, lo que permitirá a los investigadores de otros países comparar estos datos con su realidad jurídica. Los resultados muestran la importancia de contar con la participación de la comunidad como base para la toma de las decisiones como también la gran relevancia que tiene diseñar las propuestas de sitios de esparcimiento pensando en la inclusión de estos sitios como un complemento a los atractivos turísticos de una zona, y debiendo tomarse en cuenta las necesidades del visitante en los diseños que se realicen de los espacios destinados al esparcimiento.
