Abstract: NASA's NDE team is by design distributed across all of the NASA centers. Primary coordination within NASA occurs through the CLT, which coordinates the efforts of the NESC, OSMA, and the NASA centers. Each center has its own strengths that require different staffing, certification, and training needs. Balancing this distribution to ensure that NASA can cover its needs is no small task, but one that NASA has to handle to ensure safe manned spaceflight. In addition, NASA is regularly required to tackle novel NDE issues where there are no established procedures; however, the NASA team is able to coordinate and mobilize all available assets in a timely manner to solve very difficult NDE problems associated with keeping the US spaceflight program flying safely.
