Abstract: Graphical abstract Three μ 2 -O bridged Gd 2 compounds display cryogenic magnetic refrigeration properties (−Δ S m = 19.13 J kg−1 K−1 for Δ H = 7 T at 2.0 K for 1 , −Δ S m = 21.06 J kg−1 K−1 for Δ H = 7 T at 2.0 K for 2 and −Δ S m = 25.73 J kg−1 K−1 for Δ H = 7 T at 2.0 K for 3). Highlights • Three new Gd 2 compounds have been synthesized. • The three Gd 2 compounds are μ 2 -oxido bridged dinuclear complexes. • The three Gd 2 compounds display cryogenic magnetic refrigeration properties. Abstract Three new Gd 2 compounds, namely [Gd 2 (dbm) 3 (L1) 2 CH 3 O]·2.5CH 3 OH (1), [Gd 2 (tmhd) 2 (L2) 2 (CH 3 O) 2 ] (2) and [Gd 2 (acac) 2 (L3) 2 (CH 3 O) 2 ] (3) (Hdbm = 1,3-dip henyl-1,3-propanedione, Htmhd = 2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-3,5-heptanedione and Hacac = acetylacetone), have been synthesized via a mixed ligands approach and structurally characterized. Magnetic studies reveal that 1 – 3 display cryogenic magnetic refrigeration properties (−Δ S m = 19.13 J kg−1 K−1 for Δ H = 7 T at 2.0 K for 1 , −Δ S m = 21.06 J kg−1 K−1 for Δ H = 7 T at 2.0 K for 2 and −Δ S m = 25.73 J kg−1 K−1 for Δ H = 7 T at 2.0 K for 3).
