En primer lugar, se describe brevemente el impacto industrial y la evolución tecnológica que han ocasionado históricamente las revoluciones predecesoras, para posteriormente presentar algunas de las principales arquitecturas, estándares, características y componentes de la Industria 4.0, donde las distintas disciplinas de la ingeniería desempeñan un papel fundamental para su evolución.
