| Abstract: | Waste management needs a data revolution - Is plastic pollution an opportunity? The tedious process of a systematic literature review, such as the preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analyses (PRISMA) or its non-medical variations, could enable the compilation of waste management data sets that satisfy minimum standards for statistical comparability and representativeness. The waste sector already has the experience and aptitude to communicate just how challenging it is to generate, and meaningfully interpret plastic waste data in the context of the wider waste management landscape.
