Abstract (English): This study determined the environmental actions of a mining company dedicated to exploiting stone aggregates in La Guajira to optimize its production processes. The methodology was initially based on the execution of several visits to the mine facilities, followed by identifying of environmental impacts through the elaboration of the checklist and impact assessment. After this, measures were established to prevent, mitigate, or compensate for the impacts generated by the company, and environmental guidelines were proposed. The results show that the qualification criterion that prevailed more for the identified impacts was the one of --moderate impact--, where it is indicated that the air resource is the most susceptible factor to receive environmental impact due to the processes of extraction, processing, and commercialization inside the company; based on the valuation, the 5 impacts with more importance were chosen for the development of the different environmental programs. Finally, it is concluded that executing environmental actions coherently and sustainably allows to improve the local development of the mining company in its social and environmental aspects. Additionally, with the optimization of the productive processes, the company will be able to redesign its business to reduce costs and promote sustainable development. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
Abstract (Spanish): En el presente estudio se determinaron acciones ambientales para una empresa minera dedicada a la explotación de agregados pétreos en La Guajira, con el fin de optimizar sus procesos productivos. La metodología se basó inicialmente en la ejecución de varias visitas a las instalaciones de la mina, seguido de la identificación de impactos ambientales, mediante la elaboración de la lista de chequeo y valoración de impactos. Posterior a esto, se establecieron medidas para prevenir, mitigar o compensar, los impactos generados por la empresa y se propusieron lineamientos ambientales. Los resultados evidencian que el criterio de calificación que más prevaleció para los impactos identificados fue el de --impacto moderado--, donde se indica que el recurso aire, es el factor más susceptible para recibir impacto ambiental, debido a los procesos de extracción, procesamiento y comercialización dentro de la empresa; con base a la valoración, fueron escogidos los 5 impactos con mayor importancia para la elaboración de los diferentes programas ambientales. Finalmente, se concluye que ejecutar coherente y sosteniblemente acciones ambientales, permite mejorar el desarrollo local de la empresa minera en sus aspectos sociales y ambientales. Además, con la optimización de los procesos productivos, la empresa podrá rediseñar sus técnicas de negocio con el objetivo de reducir costos y promover el desarrollo sostenible.
