| Abstract: | From the energy storage perspective, ferroelectric materials with excellent polarizing characteristics are considered as desirable candidates. We report synthesis of lead-free binary composite of Na0.5Bi0.5TiO3 (NBT)–Ba0.85Sr0.15Zr0.1Ti0.9O3 (BSZT) to realize morphotrophic phase boundary (MPB) system having promising ferroic characteristics. Further, to avail excellent energy storage characteristics, we introduce Ni0.7Zn0.3Fe2O4 (NZFO) as a non-ferroelectric material. The introduction of non-ferroelectric subsystem enhances the energy storage efficiency via domain engineering. The structural, ferroelectric, and morphological behaviour of the novel composites were investigated in order to probe their electrical and energy storage response. Polarization vs. electric field (P–E) loops become slimmer as content of non-ferroelectric subcomponent is increased. The log J vs. log E fitting is used to estimate the individual conduction mechanism. Energy density WU ~ 107 mJ/cm3 and 69 mJ/cm3 with efficiency η ~ 39.8% and 39.2% is observed in 10% and 20% ferrite composites, respectively, which further emphasize that the energy storage response of MPB-based ferroic system may be optimized via domain engineering.
