| Abstract: | This article presents information on halftoning, a process of transforming an image with greater amplitude resolution to one with lesser amplitude resolution. This has been practiced for over a hundred years in the printing industry: the solution for displaying continuous tone images with only black or white dots. Clustered-dot halftones are those that are commonly seen in mass hard copy publications produced by offset printing, such as in newspapers, magazines, and books. Blue-noise dithering can also be achieved with the point process of ordered dither. The trick of course is using an appropriate dither array. |
