| Abstract: | The aim of the present study was to evaluate the impact of the presence of remaining filling material in the pulp chamber on color stability in endodontically treated teeth with minimally invasive access. Thirty-two maxillary central incisors were distributed in traditionally conservative and minimally invasive cavities filled with AH Plus or Bio-C Sealer. The teeth underwent endodontic access followed by instrumentation, filling, and restoration, with all steps performed under an operating microscope. The specimens were stored in an incubator with relative humidity for one year. Color readings (CIE L*a*b*) were taken with a spectrophotometer (EasyShade) at six experimental times: baseline, after endodontic access, instrumentation, filling, restoration and one year of aging in the oven. The samples were scanned in a micro-computed tomograph at baseline and after restoration to analyze the adaptation of the restorative material and the presence of remaining filling material in the tooth crown. Data were tested for normal distribution, sphericity (ΔE00 and Yellowness Index - YI), and homogeneity. Tukey's test was used for pairwise comparisons, and correlation test between color stability and presence of filling material. A 95% confidence level was pre-set for all analyses. The results of this study showed that only "evaluation time" (p <.001) affected the YI and ΔE00 values. A statistically significant difference in color change was observed only for the different steps of endodontic treatment, with a greater potential for discoloration after one year of storage in an oven, simulating natural aging, however, without statistically significant differences for the type of cavity and endodontic sealers evaluated. For minimally invasive, there was a statistical difference between sealers, with Bio-C Sealer showing more gaps and voids. For the presence of material there was no difference. No correlation could be observed between remaining filling material and crown discoloration. It was concluded that the type of remaining filling material did not interfere with the tooth crown color changes in minimally invasive cavities.
