| Abstract: | The article discusses the importance and evolution of the split scar sign in assessing the response of rectal cancer to treatment. The split scar sign is a finding on MRI that indicates a good response to treatment and suggests a clinical complete response. The article presents a meta-analysis that shows a high degree of confidence in the accuracy of the split scar sign in determining treatment response. However, the presence of the split scar sign does not guarantee the absence of residual disease or the end of surveillance. The article concludes that the split scar sign is a reliable indicator of a complete tumor response when present. [Extracted from the article] |
