| Abstract: | A recent analysis of data from NASA's Magellan spacecraft suggests that present-day volcanism on Venus may be more widespread than previously thought. The study found signs of fresh lava flows on the Venusian surface between 1990 and 1992. This discovery challenges the long-held belief that Venus is geologically dead and supports the idea that Venus has comparable levels of internal heat to Earth. The study authors believe that there could be more signs of active volcanism on Venus, and future missions are expected to provide more detailed mapping of the planet's surface.
