Abstract (English): Areas with potential to host clay deposits in Las Tunas province were identified by combining remote sensing data and geological information integrated in the Geographic Information System (GIS). Geological mapping, remote sensing and geospatial modeling techniques were used. The findings reveal a heterogeneous distribution of areas with moderate, high and very high potential to host clay deposits throughout the region, with significant concentrations in Manatí, Tunas, Jobabo, Colombia and Amancio municipalities. The integration of remotely sensed data and geological sources in a GIS environment are effective and feasible for this type of analysis. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
Abstract (Spanish): Se identificaron las áreas con potencial para albergar depósitos de arcillas en la provincia cubana de las Tunas, mediante la combinación de datos obtenidos por teledetección e información geológica integrada en el Sistema de Información Geográfica (SIG). Se utilizaron técnicas de mapeo geológico, de teledetección y modelado geoespacial. Los hallazgos revelaron una distribución heterogénea de zonas con moderadas, altas y muy altas potencialidades para albergar depósitos de arcillas en toda la región, con concentraciones significativas en los municipios Manatí, Tunas, Jobabo, Colombia y Amancio. La integración de datos obtenidos por teledetección y fuentes geológicas en un entorno SIG ha demostrado ser eficaz y viable para este tipo de análisis. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
