| Abstract: | At Sichuan University's 3 MeV tandem accelerator, mono-energetic neutrons in the energy range of 0.5–5.24 MeV were generated using the T(p,n)3He and D(d,n)3He nuclear reactions. The activation method was employed to measure the cross-section of the 232Th(n,γ)233Th reaction at seven energy points: 5.078 MeV, 4.220 MeV, 3.256 MeV, 2.152 MeV, 1.757 MeV, 1.701 MeV, and 0.598 MeV. Corrections were made for the effects impacting the measured results, including the neutron flux instability during irradiation, the sample's gamma self-absorption, the neutron multiple scattering effect due to the target material, and neutron self-shielding in the sample. The measurement uncertainties ranged from 2.4 to 6.0%. Additionally, the TALYS-1.9 code was used to calculate the cross-section of the 232Th(n,γ)233Th reaction over the neutron energy range of 0.3 to 20 MeV. The measured results were then compared and analyzed against evaluated data, TALYS theoretical calculations, and existing experimental data. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
