Abstract (English): A thorough scrutiny of Einstein’s derivation of the mass–energy equivalence (MEE) equation reveals that the MEE equation derivation is based on conceptually as well as mathematically incorrect concepts. The mistaken application of the Lorentz transformation factor, which has now been conclusively proven to be incorrect, as an indispensable mathematical tool has been shown to be crucial. A critical review of the purported interconversions between mass and energy that the MEE principle asserts conclusively proves that the occurrence of such interconversions could take place only through violating the well-established laws of nature—the law of conservation of energy and the law of conservation of mass. The theory has also been shown to not be in conformity with the principle of causality. A thorough analysis of the conceptual foundation of E ¼ mc² yields a host of conflicting and self-contradictory consequences, providing convincing evidence that E ¼ mc² is not the correct equation. It is concluded that the MEE equation cannot be justified to be correct by any physical reasonings. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
[ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
