Abstract: A new feeding technology using glass-shape microstrip is presented with generalised formulas. The coupling gaps between the feed and U-shaped microstrip play a vital role in achieving excellent reflection coefficients. Miniaturisation of antenna substrate size and fringing effect reduction between mutual coupling gaps are important aspects of this experimental study. The low-current area of the circular patch antenna has been removed since most current resides at the periphery of the circular patch. The designed Industrial, Scientific, and Medical (ISM) band circular ring antenna is miniaturised to 46.93% in comparison to its conventional size of 68.44 mm × 68.44 mm. Easy-to-fabricate antenna achieves a gain of 4.54 dBi, −10 dB bandwidth from 2.42 to 2.48 GHz, and resonates sharply at 2.45 GHz with a reflection coefficient value equal to $ - $ − 41.16 dB, and a bidirectional radiation pattern. Mutual coupling enhances the gain from −1.76 dBi (without mutual coupling) to 4.54 dBi (with mutual coupling feed). The measured and simulated results are in excellent agreement and confirm the validation of the designed antenna. The proposed antenna is suitable for home use: microwave oven, Bluetooth, ISM band, wireless local area network (WLAN), and Wi-Fi. An electrical equivalent circuit of the antenna is also presented.
