Abstract: This paper presents a Knowledge-Based Ontology (K-BO) model, demonstrated through a case study. Unlike traditional ontology models, the K-BO model is rich in knowledge and incorporates various knowledge types, such as typical situations, conceptual constraints, and rules. We compare K-BO to the model of the Web Ontology Language (OWL). Our case study focuses on creating an ontology for a pedagogical dictionary that provides not only the definition of a word but also some of its typical uses, which are difficult or even most of the time impossible to model using OWL.
