Abstract: At present, badminton sports teaching in colleges and universities faces the problem of poor teaching effect, and it is urgent to seek improvement strategies. To this end, this paper explores the effectiveness of applying multimedia and network technology to badminton teaching. By collecting sports videos of professional athletes in badminton games and using PR software to crop the videos into 360*360 pixel pictures, this paper uses quadratic discriminant analysis to classify badminton technical movements (such as forehand hitting, backhand hitting, smash and lob), and tests the technical recognition effect. The study designed a split-class experiment and randomly divided the students into an experimental group and a control group. The experimental group received multimedia network technology-assisted teaching within 30 days, while the control group received traditional teaching. Through comparative evaluation, it was found that the students in the experimental group were significantly better than the control group in terms of badminton technology mastery and classroom efficiency, and the average score of the technical evaluation was about 6 points higher. The results show that multimedia network technology can effectively enhance students' interest in learning badminton technology and master skills, thereby improving the overall teaching quality.
