Abstract: This study addresses the escalating issue of dust pollution arising from construction activities, impacting both the environment and human health. The research explores the development of a compound dust suppressant through single‐factor optimization experiments. The compound inhibitor, featuring a polymer as the primary ingredient, demonstrates excellent viscosity, water retention, and hydrophilic properties. The study optimizes three functional additives, namely, a binder (hydroxyethyl cellulose), a water‐retaining agent (glycerol), and a surfactant (isomerized tridecyl polyoxyethylene ether), each chosen based on their specific performance characteristics. The optimal concentrations are determined to be 0.2%–0.4% for hydroxyethyl cellulose as the binder, 1%–3% for glycerol as the water‐retaining agent, and 0.5%–1% for isomerized tridecyl polyoxyethylene ether as the surfactant. The resulting compound dust suppressant proves effective in mitigating dust dispersion during construction, offering a cost‐efficient and environmentally friendly solution. The raw materials used are nontoxic, free from harmful substances, and biodegradable, aligning with modern environmental standards. This innovative approach contributes to the global effort to address dust pollution in construction sites and provides a sustainable alternative to traditional dust suppression methods.
