Abstract: The article focuses on an educational activity designed to help students in grades K–8 (and adaptable for grades K–12) create scaled models of the inner planets of the solar system using modeling clay. The activity aims to enhance students' understanding of the vast dimensions of space and how the volume of three-dimensional objects scales with their linear dimensions. By using a cylinder of clay to represent the planets, students can visualize and measure the scaled radii and volumes, fostering discussions about measurement errors and the relationship between radius and volume.
