| Abstract: | Multi-physical systems engineering is often based on multiple views to integrate different expertises. Nevertheless, current approaches of integration based on either a unified model or ad-hoc data exchange suffer from agility and interoperability issues. Multi-paradigm modelling approaches offer potential solutions to support the digital continuity during systems design and engineering processes. This article presents solutions developed in FARFADET, a FrAmewoRk for the FederAtion of Design and Engineering Tools, applicable to the broader cyber-physical domain. The main contribution is a tooled language allowing to specify, automate and trace consistency management throughout a system's development process that uses different types of data/models synchronization operations. The approach allows for agile dynamic workflows, where contributions fire a global update of the system data. In particular, the authors present an algorithm able to compute an optimal sequence of operations to be executed given the system's data current state and available operations. The main benefit is the ability to dynamically propagate changes made to the system in order to restore global consistency and/or provide a clear view of the system's state to help resolve issues. A case study of a design process illustrates the approach, which is backed by a freely available and extensible software framework. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
