Abstract: To address the dynamic response of internal pipes of utility tunnel in horizontal non-uniform soil subjected to oblique incident wave site, this study develops a Python-based plug-in to simulate three-dimensional oblique incidence of SV wave in non-uniform site, to investigate pipe acceleration, relative slip between the pipe and utility tunnel, and strain response mechanisms, and to explore peak acceleration attenuation effect and energy transfer mechanisms. Findings demonstrate that pipe dynamic response is significantly affected by incident angle, and types of seismic wave and soil. Controlling relative slip between the pipe and utility tunnel enhances energy dissipation to a degree. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
