Abstract: The effect of high-fluence irradiation on the morphology and structure of highly oriented pyrolytic graphite UPV-1T with carbon ions with an energy of 30 keV and helium ions with energies of 10 and 30 keV in the temperature range from 50 to 600°C with a fluence of (1.0–4.5) × 1018 ion/cm2 was experimentally studied. It was shown that the implantation of helium ions leads both to the effects of dynamic annealing of radiation damage to the graphite crystal structure and to the effects of helium introduction when simulating the interaction of thermonuclear fusion products with graphite materials.
