| Abstract: | The European Community's objectives for building sustainability include achieving zero-emission status for all new buildings by 2030 and transforming the existing building stock into zero-emission buildings by 2050. To facilitate this transition, numerous member states are implementing national building renovation plans aimed at phasing out fossil fuel boilers by 2040. Among the most prevalent solutions, the deployment of heat pumps stands out as the primary method. This shift is expected to result in a substantial increase in environmental noise levels within urban environments. This study examines the environmental implications of the acoustic impact associated with these new strategies, focusing on a case study conducted in an urban area of central Italy.
