| Abstract: | This paper proposes an event-triggered distributed subgradient method for solving convex optimisation problems by multi-agent systems. The optimisation problem is formulated as the sum of local cost functions distributed across a network of agents with local constraints for individual agents and global inequality constraints. In the proposed approach, the estimations of the optimal primal-dual solutions are exchanged through local communication with neighbouring agents based on an event-triggered scheme. We prove that if the trigger threshold and the step-size are both diminishing and square-summable, the estimations of all agents converge to the optimal primal-dual solution. Numerical experiments show that the proposed event-triggered method effectively reduces the number of communications compared to the time-triggered methods. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
