Abstract: This study presents a wideband dual-circularly polarized (dual-CP) antenna based on a distributed electromagnetic coupling mechanism. The antenna employed a circular slot structure fed by dual L-shaped microstrip lines. By introducing a rectangular protrusion on the ground plane and splitting it with a narrow slit, multiple parallel radiating paths were formed, establishing a distributed coupling mechanism. This mechanism introduces multiple resonant points to extend the impedance bandwidth (IBW) and generates multiple orthogonal components to enhance the axial ratio bandwidth (ARBW). The dual-port, left-right symmetric configuration enables dual-CP operation. The narrow slit decouples the shared current paths between the feeding structures, further enhancing the port isolation. Owing to its single-layer structure, the fabricated antenna achieves a low profile of only 0.011λ0. Measured results show an IBW of 87.8% (2.98-7.65 GHz) and an ARBW of 66.9% (2.72-5.47 GHz). The proposed antenna achieves a wide bandwidth and low profile simultaneously, featuring a simple and easy-to-manufacture structure. Its operating band meets the requirements for coal mine communication systems. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
