Abstract: There are obvious benefits of the adoption of blockchain innovation within the supply chain of pharmaceutical businesses, but there are significant obstacles hindering widespread adoption. This research aims to explore the relationships between transparency and three variables: reliability, responsiveness, and agility of the pharmaceutical supply chain. Besides, we examined the impacts of these three factors on the perceived value of blockchain. The influence of the perceived value on the blockchain adoption intention was also examined. Furthermore, this research examines the relationship between the intention to adopt blockchain technology and the perceived medicine safety. A new model of adoption is developed based on the Resource-Based View (RBV) and evaluated from the perspectives of stakeholders in Malaysian pharmaceutical and healthcare companies. The model is analyzed using two sequential approaches of Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) and Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs). The findings revealed that supply chain transparency positively influences perceived reliability, responsiveness, and agility. These factors positively influence perceived value, which influences the adoption intention. Moreover, the results demonstrated that the adoption of blockchain can lead to safer medicines throughout the supply chain. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
