Abstract: The discovery and manipulation of upstream open reading frames (uORFs) represent a promising frontier in plant biotechnology, offering strategies to enhance disease resistance and crop resilience. Here, we explore the role of uORFs in regulating gene expression under biotic stress and discuss approaches to engineer uORFs for sustainable agriculture and precision breeding.
