Abstract: This article summarizes fourteen research contributions from a Special Issue on "Advanced Materials and Processing Technologies," highlighting recent advancements in material processing methods and their impact on functional performance. Covered topics include thermochemical surface treatments like nitriding, laser and plasma modifications of cast iron and magnesium alloys, mechanics of adhesively bonded carbon fiber-reinforced polymer joints, ceramic-to-metal interfacial bonding, and additive manufacturing of architected polyamide structures. The collection also addresses sustainable technologies such as recycling and additive manufacturing of NdFeB permanent magnets, hydrometallurgical gold recovery from electronic waste, bio-based agricultural aggregates in construction, and thermo-mechanical degradation of turbine components. Overall, the works emphasize that deliberate control of processing conditions across multiple scales is crucial for optimizing material properties and advancing sustainable, high-performance engineering applications.
