This article focuses on the experiences of a young professional in the global water sector who, through international education and involvement with the American Water Works Association’s (AWWA) International Council (IC), advocates for cross-cultural collaboration and knowledge exchange in water infrastructure. The IC, which includes a dedicated Young Professionals (YP) Committee, aims to integrate diverse international perspectives and support emerging leaders in the water industry worldwide. The author highlights how early life in an arid region of Mexico and subsequent studies abroad shaped a commitment to improving water access and fostering global partnerships. The IC’s mission includes expanding AWWA’s international collaborations, enhancing resource accessibility, and promoting the voices of young professionals in the water sector.
