Abstract: Porphyrin and CdZnSeS quantum dots monolayers have been investigated at the surface of the water subphase. The mechanical properties and structural changes of the floating layers have been investigated using compression isotherms and surface potential measurements. The ratio of the components was applied at various values to determine the changes in mechanical and thermodynamic properties. The mechanical properties revealed that the mixed monolayers of porphyrin and quantum dots exhibit high miscibility at molar fractions of CdZnSeS quantum dots of 0.001 and 0.0008, characterized by negative excess area values, and the isotherms did not indicate phase separation. However, the rest of the values of the molar fraction showed less miscibility and deviation to positive values of excess area. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
