Abstract: In this paper, we obtain an index formula for elliptic operators on manifolds with cylindrical ends in the case where the cylinder's base is a torus of arbitrary dimension. The proof of this result relies on a new local algebraic index theorem for families of elliptic symbols and on the surgery of elliptic operators. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
