Abstract: The article addresses the pressing issue of information redundancy in digital image representation methods. Traditional approaches to storing graphical data in digital photographs using CMYK, LAB, and HSB color models employ 8-bit addressing for each channel, which does not correspond to their physical dynamic range (0–100%). This paper proposes and mathematically substantiates a bit-packing method that eliminates structural redundancy by redistributing unused high-order bits. The authors have developed two implementation algorithms for this method: sequential bit aggregation and cyclic bit shifting. Theoretical analysis results indicate that the proposed approach provides stable lossless compression of 12.5% for the CMYK model, 8.33% for HSB, and 4.16% for LAB. It has been established that the method is effective for any images within these color models and can serve as a preprocessor for classical compression algorithms (LZW, DEFLATE), creating a cumulative memory-saving effect. This work holds high practical significance for precision printing and professional color correction, enabling the optimization of storage and data transmission resources without degrading image quality.
