| Abstract: |
The main areas of use of low-level programming in modern conditions are considered. The increase in requirements for performance and control over the computing environment is noted, which necessitates the need to obtain reliable data directly from the hardware level. The main advantage that can be obtained using low-level programming is the ability to use additional sets of instructions that can speed up calculations or provide new capabilities. For example: faster encryption; number processing; system information from SMBIOS; reading hardware registers and controlling I/O ports; reading "raw bytes" to obtain information about devices on the PCI or PCI Express bus; reading temperature, voltage, fan speed. The importance of low-level programming for embedded systems, real-time systems, robotics and drones is noted. A separate important problem of low-level programming is the use of reverse engineering in debugging programs and recognizing unknown software. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
