| Abstract: |
The essence and current state of the password manager industry, as well as their typical vulnerabilities and problem areas, have been analyzed. A local password manager for a computer system was developed, implementing an algorithm to counteract basic types of spyware during auto-fill operations. The proposed algorithm is based on deliberately cluttering the system clipboard with randomly generated characters, between which the characters of the password to be auto-filled are copied and pasted. Testing of the developed system and algorithm confirmed the effectiveness of countering spyware that monitors the clipboard, as well as yielded high quantitative evaluation results. At the same time, a limitation of the algorithm was identified, namely the potential possibility of detecting the moments when data is inserted from the clipboard. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
