Abstract: Purpose: This study investigates the interrelationships among promotion focus (PF), psychological ownership (PO), polychronicity (PC) and perceived organizational support (POS) in an organizational setup. While previous literature examined these constructs in isolation, this research uniquely integrates them. It studies how POS moderates the relationship between PF and PC with PO as a mediator. Design/methodology/approach: The study adopts a cross-sectional research design based on data collected from 238 employees of Banking Financial Service institutions through surveys across various industries. Regression analysis was used to understand the hypothesized relationships. To elucidate underlying mechanisms, mediation and moderation analyses were performed. Findings: The analysis revealed that PF positively influences PO, whereas PO positively affects PC. PO mediates the relationship between PF and PC. Additionally, POS moderates all the interrelationships. This study also provides novel insights on the nuanced role of POS as a moderator amplifying employee behaviours. Practical implications: The findings suggest that organizations should strike a balance between autonomy and support. They should also foster an environment that enhances PF among employees. It will enable them to improve their PO and PC. This would certainly pave the way for improving organizational outcomes such as higher levels of employee engagement and productivity. Originality/value: By integrating PF, PO, PC and POS, this research work adds value to the current literature. The mediating and moderating mechanisms within these relationships were studied and confirmed using empirical data. It provides new insights into organizational behaviour and management practices.
