Title: Reducing Color Defects In Solventborne Paints.
Authors: Booton, J. Douglas1
Source: Paint & Coatings Industry. Jan2006, Vol. 22 Issue 1, p54-55. 2p.
Subjects: Paint, Manufacturing defects, Manufacturing processes, Solvents, Dispersion (Chemistry)
Abstract: This article discusses some of the causes of color defects in solventborne paints and suggests methods for minimizing and/or eliminating them. There are a variety of sources for these kind of defects. Pigment stabilization is an important step in the paint-making process. A discussion of the role of solvents in stabilizing dispersion of pigments in a coating system is discussed. A thorough dispersion step to minimize defects is described.
