The author reflects on U.S. Secretary of Commerce Sinclair Weeks' firing of Dr. Allen V. Astin, director of the National Bureau of Standards. She explained that the controversy has been spurred by the controversial testing of the Bureau on a battery additive known as AD-X2. Replacing Astin is Week's Assistant Secretary for Domestic Affairs Craig R. Shaeffer. Weeks is to report to the Senate Small Business Committee regarding the ousting of Astin. |
