| Abstract: | The article focuses on the impact of science and technology upon military direction in the U.S. during past two decades since the nineteen-forties. The complementary impetus on scientific progress occasioned by military necessity during the same period has been nothing short of enormous. With over 40 percent of all research funds in the country, now coming directly or indirectly from the Department of Defense, the military has become a principal stockholder in the country’s research organization. |
