Abstract: The article presents parts of the "Cocoyoc Declaration," which is a call for the reform of the international economic order. The declaration was formulated in October 1974 when an international group of scientists, and economists met for a symposium at Cocoyoc, Mexico to discuss the patterns of resource use, environment and development strategies. According to the declaration, the primary concern of the group is to redefine the whole purpose of development and focus on the development of man. According to them, development should not only be limited to the satisfaction of basic human need but should also include freedom of expression and impression as well as the right to give and receive ideas and stimulus.
