Abstract: The article discusses the history of the journal "Learned Publishing," which is celebrating its twentieth anniversary. Before "Learned Publishing" appeared, the Association of Learned and Professional Society Publishers (ALPSP) produced a newsletter called the "ALPSP Bulletin." The "ALPSP Bulletin" changed its name to "Learned Publishing" to attract a greater readership under the leadership of Hazel Bell. The early production methods of the journal are discussed, as is the journal's relationship with libraries.
