| Abstract: |
The article investigated the effects of character size and contrast on the legibility of Japanese text presented on visual display terminals (VDT). Findings revealed that legibility improves with luminance contrast for all character sizes which have been studied here. A strong correlation was observed between reading speed and the subjective rating index. |
