Abstract: An interview with behavioral economist Joshua Epstein is presented. When asked how his work differs from previous models, he replies that he has created artificial societies of individual "agents" who behave like simple but plausible humans. The author believes that his model can help to understand everything from the way economic classes emerge in societies, how epidemics spread, to the dynamics of civil conflict.
