Abstract: The article focuses on an interface developed by software provider Gibbs and Associates that allows its computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) products to read product data in a standardized file format that includes both machinable features and critical specifications necessary for machining. The interface will enable computer numerically controlled (CNC) machine tool users to benefit from emerging data-communications standards designed to promote a truly paperless manufacturing environment.
