| Abstract: | The article presents a discussion about intertidal algal zones on Fair Isle which is located off the north coast of Scotland and halfway among Shetland and Orkney. It explores the raising of marine algal zones in relation to tide currents, weather, and atmospheric conditions such as stormy sea condition and low-cloud prevalence. The article also illustrates the transect lines which note the accessible areas where marine algae vegetation occur. The article ends with a summary which states that the type of exposed coast vegetation in Fair Isle suggests algal affinities with more northerly islands rather than with the mainland of Great Britain. |
