Abstract: The authors reflect on the study conducted by A. Rupp and J. Templin concerning the problem in the applicability of Diagnostic Classification Models (DCM's). It says that DCM are useful tools in providing diagnostic information that are useful in educational, medical and other contexts. It notes that the study by Rupp and Templin is mirrored by the limited number of empirical application of DCM and that the research on it are likely to be more of theories than of operational nature.
