| Abstract: | Abstract: A simplified scintillator-response formulation is proposed which, like the Birks formula, depends solely on stopping power calculations. The new equation eliminates a computational complication of the energy deposition by secondary electrons (EDSE) model, using truncated energy deposition to estimate scintillator inefficiencies. The resulting formula is used to calibrate published multi-ion thick scintillation response data. The advantage of using the present equation as an alternative to other simple formulas is discussed.
