| Abstract: | The article expands the characterization of sea clutter as nonlinear dynamic process and the role of the z-parameter or Mann-Whitney rank-sum statistic with the use of a principled theoretical approach. The author states that degree of nonlinearity is governed by the extent of frequency modulation (FM). Moreover, the study suggests that radar sea clutter is nonlinear over appreciable timescales such that the temporal variation in the radar cross-section (RCS) is significant.. Furthermore, the nonlinearity is also determined by the extent of frequency modulation |
